The reasons for the fight is for them to pay the Jizyah. The Jizyah is a kind of tax levied on d non-muslims who are residing in Islamic state. If they are paying the Jizyah, there would be no need of fighting them.
We can say that d federal government of nigeria is fighting tax defaulters, that doesnt mean that d govt takes arms against tax defaulters. When we say d govt is fighting corruption, that doesnt mean dat d govt takes arms against corrupt people.

FOLARIN : Thank God you agree that jesus was peaceful but mattew you quoted never talked about fighting and killing how do I know same Jesus was arrested and nailed to the cross he did not fight, many of his disciples were killed for their faith as matyrs they did not retaliate so what else do you want to know. Now we need to ask what is the meaning of mattew 10:34-35
Immediately you accepted Christ your family will rise against you in war some will even ask you to be killed for your newly found faith that was what jesus was talking about and that has been happening alla round us. So mattew was only talking about the persecution and separation the salvation of jesus would bring to one not war ok
