sura 4:157 has cause Muslims a great deal of problem there were varying interpretations. According to theTafsir al-Jalalay seen below:
And for their saying boastfully ‘We slew the Messiah Jesus son of Mary the Messenger of God’ as they claim in other words for all of these reasons We have punished them. God exalted be He says in repudiating their claim to have killed him And yet they did not slay him nor did they crucify him but he the one slain and crucified who was an associate of theirs the Jews was given the resemblance of Jesus. In other words God cast his Jesus’s likeness to him and so they

thought it was him Jesus. And those who disagree concerning him that is concerning Jesus are surely in doubt regarding the slaying of him for some of them said when they saw the slain man the face is that of Jesus but the body is not his and so it is not he; and others said no it is he. They do not have any knowledge of the slaying of him only the pursuit of conjecture illā ittibā‘a l-zann is a discontinuous exception in other words ‘instead they follow conjecture regarding him that which they imagined they saw’; and they did not slay him for certain yaqīnan a circumstantial qualifier emphasizing the denial of the slaying. AND… Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger) Allah destroyed their man Tatianos. (They slew him not nor crucified, but it appeared so unto them) Allah made Tatianos look like Jesus and so they killed him instead of him; (and lo! those who disagree concerning it) concerning his killing (are in doubt thereof) in doubt about his killing; (they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture) not even conjecture; (they slew him not for certain) i.e. certainly they did not kill him,
AHMED DEEDAT (now demised) once a frontliner Islamic apologist came up with resuscitation theory he said Jesus WAS CRUCIFIED but never died on the cross he came with the swoon theory.
Few many others belief It was just illusion that Allah caused the conjecture on the enemies of Eisa and Allah raised him bodily to himself…
Mohsin Khan: And because of their saying (in boast), “We killed Messiah ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah,” – but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ]:
God made someone look like Jesus who was then crucified in the place of Christ. This is known as the substitution theory, but this interpretation got many problems. First, who in fact was made to look like Christ? Muslims were not unanimous:
A. Some say that it was Judas.
B. Others say it was one of Jesus’ disciples.
C. Still others say that it was a Roman soldier named Titawus.”
Quran claimed to be clear and in pure Arabic tongue but  there was no explanation from Allah HOW ALLAH MADE CRUXIFICTION APPEAR SO if there is no clear explanation about sura 4:157 where did all these scholars got their explanations from?? Little wonder my opponent never explained using the QUORAN how cruxifiction occurred.
ANOTHER PROBLEM….
S. 19:33, Christ Speaking As An Infant:
So peace is on me The day I was born, The day that I die, And that day I shall be raised up to life (again).” A. Yusuf Ali
The word “again” is not in the Arabic text but is Ali’s insertion. Compare M. Ali’s translation:
“And peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I am raised to life.”
The very same phrase is used of John the Baptist (Yahya) just a few verses earlier:
So Peace is on him The day he was born, The day that he dies, And that day he Will be raised To life (again)!” S. 19:15 Y. Ali
According to Islamic belief John the Baptist lived and died and will be raised to dwell in paradise at the culmination of time. certain Muslims have Jesus ascending to God before dying, destroying the chronological sequence of the passage.
That Sura19:33 is puzzling can be seen from Yusuf Ali’s footnote:
“… Christ was not crucified (iv. 157). But those who believe that he never died should ponder over this verse.” (Ali, The Holy Quran [The Holy Koran Publishing Company], p.774, f. 2485
ANOTHER QURANIC PROPHECY THAT NEVER WAS!!
Since majority of Muslim (Al sunnah) claimed Jesus never died then sura 3:55
Allah SWT says:
“[Mention] when Allah said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.”
This is a prophecy that never happened. I therefore challenge all muslim readers to explain in the comment section when did this death of Jesus happened and how? To some few reformist who claimed Jesus died a natural death they need to give us reference to his death and how he died naturally as they claimed. The under listed questions are to be answered objectively by Muslims if truly they want us to take the word of the Quran as from Almighty :
1. Who was replaced with Jesus? And why did Allah never explained this in the Arabic Quran??
2. How did Allah made it appear so???
3. What is so special about Jesus that he was not allowed to be killed since many other prophets before him were killed?
SUMMARY
I have exposed the quoranic problem on sura 4:157 the sura is belated with divers problem and this  might be the reason many Muslims have problem using the noble Quran in establishing that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified. Quran the most trusted book of the Muslims  which is believed to have come from heaven a direct speech from Allah was not clear on this issue and this has placed Muslims into problem anytime they are challenge to explain crucifixion using the ayat of the noble Quran found in sura 4:157.
